[VIRTUAL] Cities and Counties for Fine and Fee Justice

    May 16, 02:00 PM - 03:00 PM (ET)
We invite you to attend an information session on Cities & Counties for Fine and Fee Justice (CCFFJ) to learn more about how you can make equitable reforms in your community. CCFFJ is a national leadership network of policy makers and local advocates dedicated to pursuing high-impact local fine and fee reforms. Led by the Fines and Fees Justice Center, Results for America , and the San Francisco Financial Justice Project , the CCFFJ leadership network receives customized technical and strategic assistance, including access to policy, research, communications, and data expertise on fines and fees policies. Are you or anyone in your network interested in learning how to advance fine and fee reforms in your city or county? Join us for a webinar on May 16th at 11am PT / 2pm ET where you will have the chance to learn about the importance of local fine and fee reforms and how they have been won in jurisdictions across the U.S. This webinar is also your opportunity to: Be the first to hear about our all-expense paid Fall 2024 Fine and Fee Bootcamp and other upcoming opportunities Learn about the local advocacy strategies used by leaders in Miami-Dade and Washtenaw County to end jail fees and court costs Get a comprehensive overview of the reforms won by CCFFJ teams Over the last decade, 1 in 3 Americans has been impacted by fine and fee debt, forcing many to give up food, rent, and other basic needs just to pay them off. But egregious court fines and fees practices cannot be fixed with a single, new law or policy - they look different in every community. It's not enough for meaningful reform to happen at the state level, it must be local too. Get a firsthand account of the road to local reform in our latest videos featuring community advocates and policymakers from Miami-Dade County (Florida) and Washtenaw County (Ann Arbor, Michigan). See more CCFFJ teams' reforms in our 2020-21 and 2022-23 impact reports. Beyond the Bars advocates and local policymakers from Miami-Dade discuss how they eliminated jail fees, jail phone call fees, and wiped out $100 million in jail debt. See how Washtenaw County implemented a policy to eliminate over $2,000 in court costs and attorney fees for individuals who qualify for assigned counsel. As always, we're thankful to our partners at the Fines and Fees Justice Center and Results for America for working with us to advance bold fine and fee reforms nationwide. And we're proud of the participating cities and counties who have advanced fine and fee reforms in their hometowns. We look forward to working with you all to continue building the movement for Financial Justice! Yours in Financial Justice, Michelle and Cecilia
