As communities move forward with local pretrial justice system reforms, data and anecdotal evidence are revealing unintended consequences of practices such as pretrial assessment, electronic monitoring, and release conditioning. Mid-course corrections are needed to ensure that the policies and practices being put in place are on track to achieve decarceral goals. This workshop will share unintended consequences that are common in the field, and participants will have the opportunity to discuss implications for their own work and action steps.
