The Justice Management Institute (JMI) provides research, education and training programs, and technical assistance in justice policy, planning, and operations. JMI’s work has traditionally focused on the adjudication function—prosecution, defense, and courts—but also includes a substantial body of work on criminal justice coordination.

JMI is available to provide support in the following areas:

• Training and technical assistance on the implementation and use of risk/needs assessment to inform charging, diversion/deferred prosecution, bail recommendations, plea negotiations, sentencing recommendations, and probation violation responses;
• Technical assistance to establish and sustain criminal justice coordinating councils—multidisciplinary teams that bring together local stakeholders;
• Operational decision-making (screening, charging, diversion, discovery);
• Holistic defense approaches to addressing defendants’ criminogenic needs;
• Analysis of and technical assistance to reduce pending case backlog; and
• Technical assistance on reducing time to disposition through analysis of court events, judicial and court officer practices, and case volume.
