Mecklenburg County released a revised bail policy in March 2019, directing Judicial officials to be more intentional in their decisions related to pretrial release. Mecklenburg County has implemented a structured, data-driven, and collaborative approach to monitor the implementation of the new policy. This approach includes a dedicated staff to support partner agencies and monitor data related to the release and detention of defendants, as well as the formation of leadership and implementation teams to develop an implementation plan which identifies and addresses challenges of implementation.
