Learn About LEAD - Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion

11-12-2019 04:14 PM

First implemented in 2011, LEAD® - Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion - was the nation’s first pre-arrest, pre-booking diversion initiative for drug-related offenses. LEAD forges transformative partnerships of law enforcement, health and service agencies, prosecutors, and civil rights advocates to divert many people and cases out of the criminal justice system and into long-term community-based case management at the earliest possible opportunity: the moment of potential arrest.

Today, LEAD is being piloted in 60 sites across the country and expanded in some places to include offenses related to behavioral health issues and extreme poverty. In this interactive webinar, participants will learn all about LEAD - its principles, purposes, and operations; how and why it differs from other diversion approaches; and how to implement LEAD with fidelity - and will hear from New Orleans about their experiences implementing LEAD.
