This webinar provides an overview of a new resource from PRI and NLC concerning the co-responder model, which has emerged as a promising and increasingly adopted practice for cities and counties. The model has become one of the predominant interventions for localities seeking to improve outcomes for residents experiencing mental health crises. While varied in practice, the model provides law enforcement with appropriate alternatives to arrest as they respond to individuals in crisis. This new resource brief details the multiple co-responder models available to city and county leaders, including a core model and several variations. It also provides information around the benefits of co-responder models, how to move forward with planning, funding, and implementation, and evaluation. This webinar will also featured local SJC site representatives from Los Angeles, CA and Spokane, WA who spoke about their experiences with the model.
